Links

Links are what makes the web, well, a web. I am a little link-happy--there are just so many great sites out there--but I have tried to restrain myself here. However, I couldn't resist adding links to one of the true gems of the web, the world of online comics. Treat yourself by going straight to the "Funny Stuff" category!

Fantasy Links:

Fantasy is Love - an informational and creative center for fantasy. Take a look!

: Artist Nigel Sade's exquisite horror/fantasy/sf art.

Amy Brown's Fantasy Art: In turns whimsical, beautiful, and mysterious, Amy Brown captures the world of Faery.

Robin Wood: The "Music Lover" cover she did for Dragon Magazine back in 1985 so impressed me that I still remembered her name 15 years later when I stumbled on her web page. A print now hangs in my office.

Dee Dreslough: Beautiful free fantasy art! You won't regret checking out this site!

Funny stuff:

Who would have thought that the web would not only be a great place for writers, but for comics artists as well? Here are some of my favorites.

Girl Genius Girl Genius - Gaslamp fantasy with some of the best world-building out there. Highly recommended!

Narbonic - Another mad science comic, and another must read. If you've ever argued with your friends or significant other whether "henchman" or "minion" is the preferred term...this is the comic for you.

Toasted Pixel - I think the creator of this strip surfs the internet all day long looking for stuff to mock. If so, he does it extremely well. One of the funniest, smartest sites I've come across in a long time.

Crimson Dark Crimson Dark - A science fiction webcomic about a bunch of misfit space pirates. Hmm, wonder why I like this one?!

Zebra Girl Zebra Girl: by turns funny and profound, this series tells the story of an unfortunate young woman turned into a demon. A must read. Unfortunately, it updates roughly once every three months.

COTC Clan of the Cats: Chelsea just discovered that she is a witch, descended from a long line of witches. And, oh yeah, she turns into big black panther when she's mad. Believe it or not, this is just the start of her problems.

Sluggy FreelanceSluggy Freelance: A hilarious strip that lampoons practically every major sci-fi/fantasy trend. Highlights include "The Slug Files," "Mecha EasterBunny," "Muffin the Vampire Baker," "The Isle of Dr. Steve," and "The Quatrix."

Links to other Authors:

Gloria Oliver - If you haven't read her In the Service of Samurai, then you're missing an awesome fantasy adventure tale.

Holly Black - If you enjoyed Winter's Orphans, you will love Holly Black's Tithe. Set in the modern day world, Tithe draws its inspiration from the old fairy tales, before they were prettied up in the 19th century. Although billed as a young adult novel, this is a must-read for any fantasy fan.

Linnea Sinclair - Space Opera style scifi romance at its best.

Jeff Strand - Jeff has invented his own genre, the horror-comedy. You must read his work to believe it!

Jeanine Berry

K.G. McAbee - Swashbuckling sword-and-sorcery.

Sheri L. McGathy

Rie Sheridan

Louise Cooper

Midnight Blood - Vampires, mystery, and other things that go bump.

Skyla Dawn Cameron - Awesome urban fantasy

Angelique Armae

Jess Gordon

Saje Williams

Conrad Sucatre

Blog Hoppers
